Roles & permissions

Understand the four roles in Meistify (Admin, Master, Office, Journeyman) and their permissions.

Overview

Meistify uses four roles to control access to modules and data. Each employee is assigned exactly one role that determines what they can see and do.

The role system is available from the Professional plan. The Starter plan only includes the Admin role.

The four roles

Admin

Full access to all modules and settings. The admin can invite employees, assign roles, create and cancel invoices, export data and manage company settings.

Master

Can see all data in the business – customers, construction sites, orders, time tracking and calendar. Can create and edit entries, but cannot create or cancel invoices and cannot manage employees.

Office

Identical to the Master role, but designed for office staff without construction site experience. Can handle all administrative tasks – managing customers, creating orders, scheduling in the calendar.

Journeyman

The most restricted role – optimised for on-site work. The journeyman can only see their own assigned orders, construction sites and time entries. They can track their working time and create acceptances, but cannot view customer data or invoices.

Assigning roles

Roles are set when inviting an employee and can be changed afterwards on the employee detail page.

  1. Go to Employees β†’ click on the employee
  2. In the Role section, select the new role from the dropdown
  3. The change takes effect immediately

Only admins can change roles. If you're working as a Master or Office user, contact your admin.

Custom permissions

On the Business plan you can also set individual permissions per employee. This allows you to e.g. give a Master the right to create invoices, or remove a specific module from an Office user.

You'll find custom permissions under Settings β†’ Team & Permissions.
